Overview

Divorce tears families apart! Shane and Brandon have never fought before, but now they are pushing each other! This leads to a serious injury. The family is forced to address some of the issues of the divorce. But, is it enough to help Shane recover?

When children believe it is their fault, they feel responsible and some begin to think that this makes them a bad person. “Well, I was actually really angry,” admitted Shane. “But it’s not good to get angry.” They question their value and this alters the way they perceive themselves and their life.

This begins a flood of emotions ranging from guilt, fear, anger and sadness. This sparks the negative thinking and can cause minor misbehavior, but can also spiral into depression, suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, and violent behavior.

Talking about divorce is very difficult for kids. “Brandon started accusing me of being the reason that Mom and Dad were getting a di...di…, oh let’s just call it splitsville.” This book is an effective tool to help children open up and discuss their many concerns and questions about divorce. This story features characters with real emotions that kids will be able to relate to. They will learn skills and concepts through this engaging story.

This book effectively speaks on two levels - to children and to parents. The Little Angels coach Shane on how to use a tool and technique to deal with his fears, emotions and stresses. “Those are all common fears that children have when their families are going through a divorce.” The Self-Esteem Angel uses her unique magic to show Shane’s Mom a side of divorce that parents don’t get to see.

The family discusses, “What makes you guys think it is your fault?” and the importance of communication. The Angels help them think of ways they can work together for the well-being of everyone. The insights, tools and techniques in this book help build self-esteem. “It is important for all of you to realize that these are all communication skills that can be learned." The Angels bring positive energy to a very difficult and serious topic.

Get answers to these important questions:
- What kind of fears and thoughts do kids have?
- The energy of emotions.
- What is “focused listening”?
- How does “focused listening” help families?
- Whose fault is the divorce?
- Why do parents need to see things from a child’s viewpoint?
- Which ideas will help the family move forward?

With her usual empathy and compassion, Collier, brings us a story that demonstrates how families can move forward and come out the other side of divorce, stronger.

Ages 9-12, Teens, All Ages, Family. All family members touched by the pain of divorce will appreciate the easy to use tools, and will be inspired by the hopeful messages.

Recommended Resource for Parents, Counselors, Teachers and Support Workers! Anyone who works with kids need to know what to expect, what to say, and how to use these effective tools. “If you tell your story to an expert like a counselor, they can give you insights and share ideas on how to deal with the challenges that come up for each person.”

See the image that looks like a dove, just above the title, on the cover of is unconditional love like heaven?
I DID NOT draw or paint it. It just appeared.
See the girl in the pink dress in the clouds below the Self-Esteem Angel in how to handle change – friendship?
I DID NOT draw or paint it. It just appeared.
