The 83 papers in this volume present the outstanding research results obtained by various research groups in different countries over the last 40 years. The contents include pioneering papers on lasers, tunable laser fundamentals, transition metal ion and rare-earth ion tunable lasers, ultrabroadband and multifrequency solid state lasers using spatially dispersed resonators, and nonlinear wavelength conversion of tunable solid state lasers. The featured tunable systems operate in a wide spectral range from UV to near-IR, and with a wide range of optical power including cw and pulsed operation.
