Select Works of Apocrypha (40 Books)
Apocrypha is a Greek word that means, 'something hidden'. The term is often
used for writings of the church that are not generally accepted as authentic
or inspired.

It is unclear what the motivation was for writing many of these works. But often
they fill in gaps of information where the Bible is silent; such as the lives
of Mary and Joseph (Protoevangelium of James); the early childhood of Jesus
(Gospel of Thomas); and the ministry of various disciples (Acts).

The date of all these works is uncertain, but a rough estimated is provided by
scholars and these are included with the works.

The following books are provided in this collection:

1. Apocalypse of Peter (c. 130)
2. Protoevangelium of James (c. 150)
