Cali may be out of the fire, but that doesn't mean the heat is off.

About the Author

Sometime ago I came across some cannons for authors. The cannons stated the about the author section should only ever include a professional headshot of the author and a serious blurb. ?? No offense to any of the many, many authors who follow this rule, but, as a reader, I’ve bothered with maybe five author bios. Sorry. Love your stories. Don’t care that you and your significant other/children/cats/four pigs/your plant Fred live in an apartment/bungalow/cabana in the city/woods/on an island where you write when you are not being otherwise amazing.
To me, the about the author page feels like a bad Tinder profile telling me nothing of substance about the author. Conversely, look at how much you are learning about me! I probably would have an awesome Tinder profile if I was on Tinder. I’m not. I’ve never been on Tinder. I may also not know what makes an awesome Tinder profile. Is it cat pictures? I bet its cat pictures. ?? I obviously don’t follow the about the author rules, although I’m generally a rule follower. And I think plants should be named Fred. Oh, and I probably have a cat who has major qualms about my computer sitting on my lap where he belongs. Or I really am a cat and I’m still trying to throw people off my trail. ??
