      About the Author

Sean Scott is a restoration contractor from La Jolla, California who has worked for over 38 years in the construction and restoration industry. Most of his experience has been spent assisting families rebuild their homes after fires, floods, storms, and other disasters. Sean has been involved in literally thousands of residential and commercial property damage claims and has worked with most major insurance carriers as well as independent adjusters, public adjusters, and attorneys. Through this experience, he has witnessed first-hand what people have to go through after a disaster and how difficult the recovery process can be.

In 2007, Sean’s career took an abrupt turn when wildfires swept through Southern California for the second time in four years. Nearly 6,000 homes were destroyed in the fire storms of 2003 and 2007 and countless others were damaged. It was in the months following these events that many survivors found themselves unable to rebuild their lives or return home, mainly because of insurance related problems. The heart wrenching stories that emerged told of people being sold inadequate insurance policies, adjusters lowballing claims, banks foreclosing on homes, life savings being spent on lawsuits, and other tragedies. In some instances, families were forced to abandon their homes and start over.

In this latest eye-opening book, Secrets of the Insurance Game, Sean removes the mask of mystery that shrouds the insurance claim and restoration processes. He also shares numerous experiences of dealing with insurance companies and reveals many of the secrets, tips, and tricks homeowners need to know to come out on top.

Sooner or later, whether it’s a pipe leak, food catches fire on the stove, or wind damages the roof, every homeowner will experience some type of damage to their home where they will need this information. It’s not a matter of if it will be needed, - but when.
