Overview

The Argentine and Bolivian Inez Olivera is part of the elegant society of Buenos Aires in the 19th century. Like the rest of the world, the city is full of magic from the ancient world although, to a large extent, that magic has disappeared or been forgotten over time. Inez has everything a girl could want, except what she craves most about herself: her globe-trotting parents, who always end up leaving her behind. When she receives news of Inez's tragic death, she inherits a huge fortune and a mysterious guardian: an archaeologist who works with her Egyptian brother-in-law. In search of answers, Inez travels to Cairo, taking with her her sketchbooks and the gold ring that her father sent her before she died for safekeeping. But, upon her arrival, the magic of the ancient world linked to her ring drags her down a path in which she discovers that the disappearance of her parents was not as her guardian made her believe, but rather that there is something more. With her tutor's infuriatingly handsome assistant thwarting her plans at every turn, Inez will have to rely on ancient magic to uncover the truth about her parents' disappearance, or risk becoming a pawn in a game that escapes her control. control and that could end it.
