Overview

There are 50 full-color photos to help you take a journey through China with the author, from Beijing in the east to central Xian, Chengdu, and Chongqing, and from Lhasa, Tibet in the west, down the Yangtze River to the port city of Shanghai.

China still has its own set of problems. Yet the bulk of the Chinese people have more money and more freedom than ever before. They are polite to Americans and try to emulate our culture and characteristics while striving to surpass us in every way. They are happy, peaceful, and markedly proud of their country and leaders.

Theirs is a country of superlatives: the biggest central square in the world, the largest and best imperial palace complex, the worlds largest dam, and the worlds largest and longest manmade structure--the Great Wall.
Enjoy the adventure.

About the Author

Patricia Probert Gott is a retired business woman as well as an adventurer, having traveled in forty-seven states in the U.S., ten countries, and five continents. Her love of travel is exemplified in her three travel books featuring Tanzania, Egypt, and China.

Among her adventures include several horseback trips throughout six western states and in nine countries, a rafting trip down the Grand Canyon, and working as a horse wrangler in Wyoming for four summersthus her obvious familiarity and love of that state, which is the setting of her recent historic novel The DAYES of Wyoming.

Ms Gott is an avid equestrienne. She started riding at the age of eight and has owned, raised, and trained horses ever since, accounting for her knowledge and experience with horses as detailed in her cowgirl books and children's horse stories. She presently owns two Arabian horses. She lives in rural Maine where she is currently working on the next installment in her Horse Tails seriesa childrens chapter book.
Searching for a Magpie is her tenth book.
