Overview

The author's story details the accounts of psychotic patients as they struggle on the edge of sanity in their search for reality and the ability to take command of their own destinies. It describes Jean's own struggles, in her year of training at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital, to set and maintain her personal boundaries in order to be of help to her patients and not succumb to their fantasy worlds. In the process, Jean learns to trust her instincts, set appropriate boundaries, and provide a window of reality for each of her patients. As Lois J. About the Author

Jean C. Wheeler is a renaissance woman -- a retired psychoanalyst, a U.S. Marine veteran, college professor, watercolor artist, poet and ballroom dance instructor. She won four awards for her writing at the 2012 Southeastern Writers Association Workshop, including first place for this then-unpublished manuscript, Search for Reality, A Clinical Training Narrative. With an adult daughter in Nashville, she lives in Rock Hill, SC, with her husband. This is her second published book. "Gayle's Awakening" (a fictionalized memoir) was released earlier in 2014.
