I am an experienced A-level Literature teacher who has worked predominantly within the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) system and syllabus.
What I really enjoy is guiding students in their literary studies so that they dramatically improve and deepen their analytical skills, and can achieve at their highest potential.
The approach and method used in this detailed analysis is one that has evolved over the years and has been tried and tested in the classroom. It has proven itself over and over again with the excellent results achieved by my students in their final examinations. When students first arrive in my class at the beginning of their Advanced Subsidiary (AS) year, we immediately begin working within this methodological framework and by the time they are ready to sit their A-levels, the method has been thoroughly internalised and become their natural way of working with their texts.
In my experience students who embrace this method in earnest invariably improve their grade and many have attained their much-desired A* for A-level Literature. For students who are serious about the study of literature, this way of doing close reading and detailed analysis has been the path through which they have been able to come into their own and excel.
