Tom Leonard has been an illustrator and teacher at the University of the Arts for many years. W is for Walrus. W could also be for its thick whiskers. Walrus have two tusks, which they use as tools. Tusks act like ice picks to pull walrus up on ice floes. They can be used for protection and to help dig out mussels and clams, their favorite foods.
