About the Author

Katharine Derrick is a New Zealand writer, writing mainly for children and young adults. As well as having her original fairy tales available through various ebook stores, she has also been published in: Brian Edwards 'Top of the Morning' Book of Incredibly Short Stories, Shortland Publications, Learning Media and as Kathryn Jenkins at www.flash-frontier.com.

She is currently working on a fantasy novel for ages 9-12 and, when time permits, reviews New Zealand children's books and interviews their authors at www.nzchildrensbookreviews.wordpress.com.


Jac Jenkins writes poetry and short prose. Her poetry and flash fiction have been published widely in journals and anthologies including 'Flash Frontier: An Adventure in Short Fiction', 'Bonsai: The Big Book of Small Stories' (CUP, 2018), 'American Journal of Poetry', 'takahē', 'Landfall', 'Geometry Literary Journal', and 'Turbine | Kapohau', and is a past winner of the takahē Poetry Competition.. She co-authored 'Scoria: Short Prose from the Cinder Cone' with her sister, Kathy Derrick, and is currently working on a manuscript that she started while completing her Master of Arts in Creative Writing at Victoria University of Wellington. She lives a generally quiet rural life with her partner in the Far North of New Zealand.
