Overview

“I’ve reached a point in my life where it would be a burden to consider what other people think about me. I can no longer afford to carry around the weight of the world and their opinions. I‘m going to be happy with who I am and give myself permission to be free.”

This is what Grace said on the morning she turned 30. After living a life trying to please those around her and completely ignoring her own feelings, she decided that day to simply stop. Gone were the days that other people could tell her how she should look, how much she should weigh, and who she should love.

Scattered Tears is a poetic depiction of Grace’s life. It describes her climb up from low self esteem and the challenges she faced trying to live up to everyone’s standards but her own. Each poem reveals a tear that has been scattered and a new scar that has been healed. For every tear that she scatters, Grace in turn plants a seed to embrace a new outlook on life.

From breakups to triumphs; from laughter to heartache; from pain to pleasure - this book will celebrate it all. Life is a journey and it is meant to teach us to adapt, accept, and embrace. Join Grace as she learns how to love and accept herself for who she is and emerges a new creation in the process.

About the Author

Yolanda Gaston was born and raised in Houston TX. She first discovered her love for books at an early age. Having always been an avid reader, she naturally crossed into writing. She first wrote poetry, which is still her greatest love. Later, she found that penning short stories proved to be another strong interest. If you asked her what her favorite genre is next to poetry, she’d quickly tell you it’s Christian fiction. It was the interest in reading Christian fiction books (and the lack of great books in the genre) that prompted her to write her own stories. “As long as I write, my stories will always have a happy ending. After all, that’s the basis of the foundation of Christianity - faith. You can’t have faith without thinking that you too will have a happy ending.”

Yolanda currently lives in Virginia with her husband and their three children. It is there that she’s also established her ministry. “God has called me to do many things, but first and foremost I’ve been called to help His people. While I love to write, I’ve realized ministry is always first. Writing has not only become a fun way to share my feelings, testimonies and advice with others, but it’s been great seeing how it meshes so well within the ministry. Everything flows so well together. I know that this is my destiny; this was meant to be.”
