A combination of prose narrative and poetry, Scarlet is a harrowing and unflinching exploration of identity, mental health, and trauma. Follow it's protagonist, Scarlet, as she encounters three demons and faces down her troubled past and fights against her bleak future on her journey to become better, to achieve apotheosis.

In others words: It's trans, satanic, and horrifying in detail. This book is, in essence, what I've deemed a pseudo autobiography with a horror bent: it is an exploration of my own traumas, through the lens of its protagonist's own journey toward satanic apotheosis, dealing with subjects such as alienation, sexual assault, the hegemony of bigoted Christianity, and the power of the infernal feminine. Obviously not a book for your prudish grandmother. It's gruesome, vivid, and phantasmagoric.

About the Author

Ally Nguyen is a trans woman with deep roots in the Appalachian foothills of Northeast Georgia. Her journey into the world of writing began in 2019, under her deadname, with her self-published Sci-Fi novel, Jack Cabe. Despite facing financial challenges that led to an early end to her college education, Ally persevered in her literary pursuits. Her work has been featured in publications such as Coffin Bell and Gender Queer Literature. When not crafting stories, Ally can be found immersed in real-time strategy games or sharing laughter with friends. Her beloved rooster, Chick Chick, provides constant, if unconventional, companionship.
