Scandalous Grace, 2nd Edition

It is a fact that many religions reserve God's love and salvation only for its own members. They proclaim God's infinite love for His beloved while simultaneously asserting His retribution against his enemies. This conflicting belief system has led to violent atrocities against those believed to be outside of God's favor.

Fortunately, both Christians and Jews have moved away from such earthly abuses. However, Christians continue to struggle to reconcile a God who is love with a God who punishes forever those who reject Him. This eternal wrath of a supposedly loving God has turned off and turned away many sincere seekers of truth.

For more than 1500 years the Christian Church has overlooked or ignored evidence that this is not the God described in the overarching Bible narrative, nor is it the Good News Jesus taught.

Scandalous Grace is an eye-opening examination of the history of the Jewish and Christian faiths, and the Bible. This in-depth investigation overwhelmingly reveals a Heavenly Father of unconditional love, mercy, forgiveness and grace - for all people, not merely a favored few. Now, every person can come to truly comprehend and experience God's inescapable love and scandalous grace.

About the Author

T. A. Herring grew up in Texas in a moderate, grace-filled Disciples of Christ church in the 1950s and 60s. Youthful arguments with his numerous Southern Baptist friends over whether predestination and the rapture were true was an early awakening to the differences in views about God held by more conservative Christians. However, these arguments were soon forgotten as the author entered the secular adult world of raising a family and pursuing a career in the emerging software industry of the 1970s.

After more than 30 years of not thinking much about these issues, and a successful career in the business of startup software companies, the author's attention was drawn back to them by what could only be described as a God-inspired collision between a personal hunger for greater meaning to life, an intimate friendship with two conservative Christian brothers who rekindled these arguments about God's grace, and a very special and eye-opening book, If Grace Is True: Why God Will Save Every Person. The author was astonished at the assertion that this notion of "universal salvation" was not some new age theology, but had apparently been a vital part, perhaps even the major part, of the early Christian faith all the way back to Jesus himself. This collision launched the author on a rigorous 8-year investigation of the origins of this incredible notion about God's seemingly limitless grace and how it could have escaped serious examination not only by him, but also by much of the Christian world for 2000 years. Scandalous Grace is the result of the author's exhaustive search for the truth about God's love, mercy, forgiveness and grace.
