Overview

The small town of Langton, Georgia was beginning to prosper after the arrest of the corrupt police officers. The investigation sent the drug and gun dealers packing from the south end of town where the people of color live. But now another threat has arrived in town led by Annabelle Garrison and her stepbrother Cole Griffin.

Annabelle and Cole plan to lead their white supremacists to Langton to protest against the government's mistreatment of its Vietnam War veterans. Cole's father returned from the war to start his racist army and Annabelle's father didn't survive. They intend to burn down the south end of town where the people they hate live. Both Cole and Annabelle have a mission, but Annabelle's is more personal. She plans to march down Main Street and find the man who broke her heart many years ago. Joel Clarkston, the pastor of the Langton Friends Meeting, and his fiancé, Gloria Westfall, co-manager of the Langton Soup Kitchen, are the targets of her revenge.
When Joel finds out Anna is in town, he is reminded of her stay at the mental facility where his father was committed for several years. He fears the danger she presents to those he cares about. After all the years of keeping his secret, she has come to Langton to interrupt the happiness he found with the woman he loves. Joel kept his past a secret from Gloria, and now he may not live long enough to share.
