Overview

Sanakhou is an exciting tale revolving around historical characters in mid 13th-century Mali. From assassins and thieves, to conspiracies and murders, Sanakhou takes readers on an action-packed adventure with suspense and drama at every turn.

The novel relates the consequences of a "sanakhou," a pact made between warriors where one comes to another's aid in time of need. When one warrior king needs to acquire a husband for his difficult-to-marry daughter, his "sanakhou brother" must send his eldest son to marry the princess. The eldest son, prince of the Konde, and his mentor, a retired Nubian assassin, travel to the capital of the empire and are faced with challenges of conspiracy, intrigue and murder orchestrated by an aging courtesan. Will those who orchestrated the murders and robberies be caught? Will the pact finally be implemented so the prince and princess can marry?

Sanakhou is filled with intriguing twists and turns and historical characters of interest like the the Lion King of Mali, Sundiata Keita, king of the Keita clans of Mali.

This is the debut book for author Elizabeth Evans. She enjoys historical novels and is currently working on her second novel. She grew up in suburban Philadelphia and now lives in Southern California.
