Overview

"Sammy gets into Trouble" is the second in the Sammy Samango series of books. Written for children, the book tells of some of the adventures this little samango had during the five years he lived with his human family. Never kept in a cage and having the free run of the humans house as well as the Vervet Haven centre, with its very large indigenous trees, he became very smart, streetwise and naughty. He has been released back into the wild and now lives with a troop of samangos at Riverside Wildlife Centre in Tzaneen.

About the Author

Joan Chalmers lives in Durban on the coast of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. Mother of four and grandmother to nine, her home has always been filled with stray animals, cats, dogs, rabbits, gerbils, white mice, rats, crows just to name a few, usually rescued by her children. These creatures were allowed to wander around freely and visitors would be astonished to see a crow playing the piano, or a rabbit hopping through the house. Having also lived in close contact with wild vervet monkeys since she was a child, once her own children had left home, the opening of a vervet rehabilitation centre, Vervet Haven seemed inevitable. The arrival of this baby Samango into her life, as her close friend Misty said would be an experience of a lifetime. And it was. Joan with her husband Tom run a very successful Aviation magazine World Airnews.
