Sam Loves the Ranch

Even though the ranch with its cattle was productive, Sam and Ted talked about having a dude ranch. Then, the sheriff arrived with the news of a wagon train settled outside of town. Some of the folks were looking for work. Ted and Sam felt like they had been handed a miracle. WOW! A miracle.
Several couples were hired and came to live on the ranch. Ted formed a carpenter’s group who built cabins for the married couples to have a place for their families to live. Also, with the arrival of the new folks, the ranch grew in number not only with people; however, with pregnancies. Several women gave birth, including Sam. The local midwife came to the ranch several times that year.
Also, other marriages and deaths happened. Then there was a BBQ to celebrate the new kitchen and dining room. A large gathering from the ranch and the town’s people were not the only ones who came. Sam’s brother Will and his two children arrived.
The second yearly Plainville Festival was bigger than ever with more activities. Both the ranch and town’s people were involved. All the festival proceeds collected were used towards expenses plus the balance to be used for next year. Sam and her friend Lilly were co-chairman.
The dude ranch was named Sam’s Dude Ranch or the SDR. Schedules were made for five days of activities with the last day having a ‘show’. There were two couples who came to be the first guests.
The third book is about Sam, barn burns, third festival, drought, blizzard, loss of cattle, and changes for the ranch. Sam and Ted are strong. ENJOY!
