Charlie and Sally are back for a second adventure! Living in adjacent farms on the Longhowls estate, owned by Lord Bubble, they are invited to spend Christmas with him in Africa. This is a reward for discovering Roman treasure underneath the Manor House and for their help in preventing the evil developer Dobunnicus from getting his hands on Longhowls.

When they arrive in Africa, they are completely enthralled by the beauty of the continent, the friendliness of its people, and the prospect of a fantastic Christmas in the house on Lake Victoria. After a series of adventures in the African wilderness and meeting many of its inhabitants, they soon get embroiled in a fight to the death to save the elephant.

After being rescued from lions by a group of Maasai, they meet Enkesha, a little elephant, for the first time. It has been separated from its family by hunters and is in danger of losing its mother and the rest of its family.

Once again, the children are confronted with Dobunnicus who, with his friends, descend on Africa to hunt for ivory. Will they be able to thwart his evil plans with the help of their new friends, which, surprisingly, includes the wife of Dobunnicus?
