Detective Frank Clemons is full of conflict. His memory of a past tragedy haunts him. Alcohol tempts him. And the case of a slain young woman gnaws at him. As Frank pursues every lead he can to solve the case, Michael Sutherland paints his portrait with a wonderful narration. As Frank and his partner interview a variety of people connected to the victim, Sutherland makes up for slightly subpar female voices with inventive, appropriate accents for the other characters Frank comes across. Frank’s partner has a grizzled Southern twang that works especially well. Here’s hoping Sutherland continues the narration, as this is the first book in a series.
