Credit for advancing sociology, defining its field of research, and clarifying its methods goes to Emile Durkheim, the founder of the French school of sociology, and to his book: "Rules of the Method in Sociology." Emile Durkheim, a son of the city of Abinal in eastern France, was born in 1858. From his youth, he wanted to be a professor, so he had what he wanted, and he remained that way throughout his life. The first social issue that Durkheim addressed was the issue of the "division of social labor." In it, he wrote a thesis that he presented to the Sorbonne, with which he obtained a doctorate. Then he graduated from this special study to invent a method that he believed was the best method that was consistent with the nature of social phenomena.
