In How To Frame A Murder: Part One: Cat Painting Mystery, Horo-sha (the female ronin) and Riko (a streetwise boy) form a duo of crime-fighting investigators. They start their first official case together and investigate a simple theft of a painting, but the case turns horribly wrong when the suspects start dying. Horo-sha is confronted with a dilemma of mind and spirit as, for the first time, a murder is committed right under her watchful eyes. Her apt mind is guilt-riddled but she pushes forward to solve this unthinkable crime.
After the events in the prequel and Horo-sha's origin story, 'The Missing Japanese Chin Mystery', Horo-sha and Riko travel to a neighboring town to investigate the theft of a Calico Japanese Bobtail Cat watercolor painting called 'Staring Feline'. Horo-sha probes the servants and residents of the estate and is about to reveal the thief when tragedy strikes. Horo-sha, even working as a solo private investigator, has never been present when a murder was committed. She always arrived after the fact until today.
