Romantic Poetry

Thanks for looking at this compilation of over 150 original, mostly romantic, poems. Within you'll discover short and lengthy poems mainly about a real romance, decades in the making, and heartfelt feelings captured by nontraditional sonnets. Basically, the first 10,000 words were written to win the love of my sweetheart. The poems are not in the specific order as written, but if you are a story or word detective, you can unearth the trials and tribulations within. Don’t take that wrong. There was far, far more joys than strife. Most of the poems are romantic, mushy if you will. A few are humorous, some are insightful, and a couple are borderline naughty. Lastly, some are downright crazy. Most were penned by me, but my wife authored some of the most beautiful, ageless poetic images.

If you are looking for the likes of Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, or Walt Whitman, probably you might be better off looking somewhere else. This work is about genuine love, as it really happened. Actual love stories as our romance grew and still continues. In the embryonic stages, our romance had to be hidden because of corporate rules not allowing couples to work together. Then I almost lost her to a rich fellow that lived on a Caribbean Island.
Unlike many authors, I’m freely offering you the privilege of copying and changing individual poems to fit your particular romantic adventures. Change the names, change the places... I don’t care. Just don’t pick out a few and slap your name on them as your poetry. If any poem really resonates with you and you wish to post it on social media, please do so. About the Author

After high school, I joined the Marine Corps in 1965. There I served as a CRYPTO electronic technician and volunteer helicopter door-gunner with over 100 combat missions. After the Marine Corps, I missed the comradery, so I enlisted in the US Army and served with the Army Security Agency, which is the military version of NSA, the National Security Agency. After reaching Staff Sergeant (E-6), I requested Officer Candidate School. As a Signal Officer, there were assignments in Field Artillery, Signal Battalions, and Recruiting Command. My last assignment, at the Pentagon, was with the Information Systems, Army Research & Development Agency.
