Overview

Bourne is thrust into a race to prevent a new world war--but it may already be too late, from New York Times bestselling author, Eric Van Lustbader.

After Bourne is ambushed and nearly killed while in Indonesia, he fakes his death to take on a new identity and mission- to find out who is trying to assassinate him. In the process, Bourne begins to question who he really is and what he would become if he no longer carried the Bourne identity. Across the globe, an American passenger airliner is shot down over Egypt-apparently by an Iranian missile-leaving the world wondering if it was an accident or an act of aggression. A massive global team lead by Soraya Moore is assembled to investigate the attack before the situation escalates.

When Bourne's search for his would-be assassin intersects with Soraya's search for the group behind the airplane bombing,

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Lustbader resurrects Ludlum's hero in this thriller that fails to recapture the intensity of the original but still packs plenty of punches. This time around, Jason Bourne must track down his would-be assassin, but finds himself in the middle of an investigation that could trigger a new world war. Jeremy Davidson brings the novel necessary realism with a range of believable characters. His ability to capture the subtleties of numerous accents and dialects without falling into caricature is commendable. A splendid reading of an otherwise routine action thriller. A Grand Central hardcover (Reviews, Apr. 6). (June)

From the Publisher

"With panache Jeremy Davidson depicts Jason Bourne.... The understatement with which Davidson portrays Bourne's return to life-and-death adventures befits the character..... The high action is further enhanced by sound effects and musical transitions. Ludlum fans will not be disappointed"—AudioFile Magazine on ROBERT LUDLUM'S THE BOURNE SANCTION

AUGUST 2010 - AudioFile

Realistic sound effects and an exciting musical score enhance this reading of Eric van Lustbader’s fourth “Bourne” novel, the seventh novel in the series, including the three original titles by Robert Ludlum. Jason Bourne, superspy in search of his past, goes head-to-head with his evil counterpart in an international thriller involving a military independent contractor and an apparent attack by Iranians on a civilian airliner. The story, which at times is almost mystical, will entertain listeners even though it lacks the soul and refined plotting of the Ludlum trilogy. But Jeremy Davidson’s reading is strong, and as said above, the music and sound effects that run throughout add to the experience. S.E.S. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine
