Shape-shifter Mercy and werewolf Adam are on their honeymoon in a Washington state campground. There Mercy learns more about her American Indian heritage, and they encounter ancient magic that is wreaking havoc, which they must confront. Starting with Book 6 of any series has its drawbacks, but this book can stand on its own—although certain complexities of the characters and their relationships may be lost. Lorelei King creates a mood of intimacy between Mercy and Adam and among the various groupings of characters. As the suspense builds and the action unfolds, King quickens her pace, and her intensity increases. King seems to enjoy the characters and to have fun with the story.
