Overview

Ripponlea is a seven-volume illustrated novel. Within its pages lurk wolves and goblins, pirates and mermaids, dragons and ghosts—not to mention sinister clowns, bioluminescent streetlights, story-dwelling games, locked tower chambers, a labyrinthine underworld known as Chthonia, and an ancient phoenix tree blazing nightly atop craggy seaside cliffs. And, of course, wayward children of all ages caught in the middle of everything. Whew!

Volume one, I Promise I'll Come Back the Same, contains chapters 1 through 21 of Ripponlea and includes fourteen illustrations by the artist Schlockie99.

About the Author

Johnny Murray grew up in the rural wilds of central New York and has spent time living in Australia, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and the United Kingdom, as well as cities and small towns across the United States. He has held numerous jobs over the years, including stints as an itinerant housepainter, a night watchman, a caterer, a video store clerk, a laundromat attendant, a letterpress printer, a teacher, a library assistant, and a live-in groundskeeper for a dilapidated mansion and its adjoining estate. Johnny currently lives in Boston, where he is pursuing a PhD in English literature.
