About the Author

Supriyo Chakraborty (b. 1968) received his B.Sc. (Agri.) degree with'Distinction in 1990 and M.Sc. (Agri.) degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics in 1992 from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences (Botany) in 1998 from Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh. He has throughout a brilliant academic career. He qualified NET (National Eligibility Test) for lecturership in Life Sciences conducted by CSIR, India in 1992. He also qualified NET for lecturership in Plant Breeding and in Genetics conducted by ICAR in 1996 and 1997 respectively. Dr. Chakraborty has about 8 years of research experience in breeding of rice, tea and various pulse crops. He has published more than 25 research papers in scientific journals. He is a member of several scientific societies. Prior to joining the present post of Scientist (Plant Breeding and Genetics) in the rank of Assistant Professor at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Shillongani, P.O. Nagaon 782 001, Assam, he served as JRF in the Department of Biotechnology, AAU, Jorhat and as SRA in the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
