Witches are as old as mankind. They have been feared by all for centuries. Long before vampires came into existence.
England's James I is best known for the translation of the Holy Bible, but he devoutly feared the devil, demons and witches. Before the King James translation of the Bible was created, he wrote about witch trials he had witnessed in Holland...and his desire to rid his own Kingdom of the scourge, 400 years ago.
The "Revenge of the Pendle Witches" tells of one suspected coven, hanged in 1612 in Lancashire. Locals claim their spirits still haunt the hills and dales. And, perhaps, the birth of England's first, zombie.
The anniversary of their death? August, 2012.
Visitors to Pendle Hill should be sure not to wander around... after the sun goes down.
