About the Author

The stories in the book are written by four Detroit News sports writers. Most of the stories are written by Matt Charboneau. There are also stories by Detroit News sports columnists Bob Wojnowski and John Niyo, and by Lynn Henning. Most of the book’s photos are shot by staff photographer Dale G. Young. The book was edited and designed by Detroit News Presentation Editor Richard Epps.
Charboneau has covered Michigan State football for three years, and attended every game this season. Charboneau has followed the team from recruiting season, to spring practice, to fall practice, and now through the football season and into The Rose Bowl. Charboneau files stories for both The Detroit News print and online editions. Charboneau also hosts weekly web chats, where readers of detroitnews.com can ask him questions to which he will respond in real time. Charboneau maintains a blog at detroitnews.com with breaking Spartan football news. Charboneau also covers the Michigan State basketball team.
Young, like Charboneau, covered all 13 games this season, and provides images for The Detroit News’ print and online editions. Young also covers Michigan State basketball.
Wojnowski and Niyo are Detroit News columnists that cover all area sports, including Michigan State football. Henning is a sportswriter that covers the Detroit Tigers regularly, but contributes to The Detroit News’ Spartans coverage when he is able to.
Epps supervises the print design staff of The Detroit News.
