Remedial Magick
Adventure, supernatural thrills, first love, friendship, finding one's place in the world, and of course, Muttlebutt...what more could one ask?
A book followed me home one day...
Or at least that is how it seemed to Yuki Heimdalson, an outsider in Japan because of her half-American blood. On her 14th birthday, a strange, ornamental book and an equally alarming creature named Muttlebutt, a svartalfr (dark elf) suddenly show up, with the message that she is to learn magic. Together with her best friends, she and they suddenly find themselves in a mess of trouble. It all starts when they accidentally summon a young samurai who immediately declares Yuki should be his wife, but worse, the samurai's name is Jimmu Tenno, the mythical first emperor of Japan! Did they really just summon the real Tenno?
But that is just the start of their troubles...all sorts of magical happenings seem to go awry, from Muttlebutt's meddling, to a beautiful but cold Lord of the Alfar with plans of his own, to angry Yakusa (Japanese mafia), and shadows in the dark - even as they try to send an unwilling Jimmu home, and keep Yuki's father from finding out about the book. In fact, things are worse than they think, for not only are mythical beings from Scandinavian mythology after them, but so is something dark and deadly...something that should never have entered into their world in the first place.
And if Yuki doesn't think of something quick, not only will her friend, Skyler, be lost to the ages, but her own father's life will hang in the balance!
