About the Author

Ryan Herman is a feature writer for award-winning magazine Rugby Journal often focusing on offbeat and unconventional stories across every level of the game from grassroots to internationals. His career as a sportswriter and editor spans 25 years. He is also a contributor for The New European covering sports and social issues and is the author of Amazon bestseller Remarkable Football Grounds. He is, however, a terrible rugby player.


Ryan Herman is a journalist, author and editor. He started his career on local newspapers, which provided him with his first opportunity to write about weird and wonderful news, and he has gone on to work for a broad range of publications often focusing on human interest stories.

He is also the author of two books, Remarkable Football Grounds and Remarkable Rugby Grounds, which were both shortlisted for Best Illustrated Sports Book of the Year 2024.
