Overview

Here are collected more than twenty stories of Hesse written in the first decade of the twentieth century, which reveal what will be the great obsessions of the author. Especially interesting are the glimpses that can be seen in some of them of the extraordinary combination of poetic style and human depth, of a natural talent for psychological introspection, and of keen observation of natural spaces.
