Dr. NaRicia Futrell, affectionately known by her moniker, Yo Favorite Slightly Hood Therapist is Texas born but Memphis Tenn. raised. She considers herself a proud product of Orange Mound as she is a graduate of THE Melrose High School. She titles herself as a natural cheerleader as she was a cheerleader throughout her youth up through her first year of college at Christian Brothers University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology. She continued her educational pursuits by obtaining her Masters in Science and Social Work and later her doctoral degree in Psychology. She is currently licensed in the states of Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. She is also a certified substance abuse progression and is certified in the trauma conscious yoga method. In addition to the services provided at Gihon, under the umbrella of Namaste Ya'll she facilitates a monthly event for women, (Namaste & Therapy) creating a safe space for women to share in a practice of yoga and community.
As busy as she is remaining physically and mentally active, she places high priority on her personal relationships with others. She is a proud wife and mother of two children and three fur babies.
The talented Marvis Futrell, also a product of Orange Mound and a proud graduate of Melrose High has been a graphics and media artist for 15 years. Being a graphics artist (a man of few words but many talents) he has worked professionally and independently to bring the artistic vision of many to life. Being the husband and life partner to Dr. Futrell has been an added bonus in both their lives. His contribution to this body of work as well as the many projects of Dr. Futrell through his company Future Dezignz is beyond appreciated.
