Overview

Reclaiming Our Souls: A Woman's Guide to Healing the Spirit after Sexual Abuse offers practical methods to attain emotional and spiritual health after childhood sexual abuse. Author Rev. Dr. Julia Corbett-Hemeyer is an experienced pastor and chaplain who is also trained in world religions. She is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse whose history lends a voice of authenticity and honesty in addressing the challenges abuse survivors face.
In Reclaiming Our Souls, you’ll learn how childhood sexual abuse impacts your ability to experience the joyful and authentic spiritual life that is your birthright. You’ll be introduced to proven, practical means to reclaim what abuse stole from you. You’ll learn how to forgive yourself and to make moral decisions that are right for you. You’ll be able to regain a sense of stability and safety in life and build loving, fulfilling relationships. You will learn how to find the Sacred ways that work for you.
Helpful for partners, spouses, family, friends, and counselors as well, the advice in this book does not promote any single form of spirituality. Rather, you are encouraged to identify and connect with your own spiritual resources to help heal your wounds. The practical exercises simply put the most effective tools—those with a proven track record—into your hands.
