As soon as I started reading the book I was immediately transported (as a good book should) into Melkon's restrictive and rough world. Watching him persevere despite his rough childhood, find his calling to shepherd his parishioners and find time to be with his growing family was the true human struggle we all battle. It even feels relevant to the Syrian struggle today.
I loved reading on the author's website that the wedding of the three brothers is REAL!
