This short story looks at the greatest hunting adventure in North America today, archery elk hunting, through the eyes of three main characters. That of the raven, the elk and the hunter, each heard in third person as the events unfold. This story is all about the emotions, senses and reactions of the players and spends no time on mundane details like names, locations and big game records.
Desire, instinct, great expectations and brutal reality are the main ingredients of this chase. It is the same journey traveled millions of times, only to be repeated. The death of the prey or the failure of the predator does not end the hunt; it only marks a place in the cycle. In the hunt, the rhythms of nature vibrate and forever distinguish the players from the tame and timid souls of less challenging devotions.
