Overview

Dissatisfied with male-monotheism, a Western white male classicist and devotee of the ancient Euro-Mediterranean religions makes pilgrimage to Greece, has encounters with the old gods, finds his modern, isolated egocentric ways crushed and reemerges, so he thinks, from the Lower World of Western Society into a personal vision of the present age, which he is still trying to figure out.

This is a pilgrimage to sacred sites in Greece and Crete - Knossos, Mycenae, Delphi, the Parthenon, Corinth, Epidaurus, Sounion, with commentary on the ancient spiritual ways, as contrasted to modern. It's also very personal, exploring my own longing for meaning and belonging in ways that do not exist any more.
