About the Author

Carolyn Rosenstein is research associate in the department of sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she has held previous positions with the Center for Pacific Rim Studies and the Institute for Social Science Research.

Ivan Light is professor emeritus of sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles. His work has appeared in Applied Research in Economic Development, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and International Migration Review. His latest book is Deflecting Immigration.
