Set over the course of one night in Berlin, Expat Joe returns home and weaves through decadence and self loathing desperate to connect with who he once was and a happiness that he gave away too easily.

"Rückspiel" was first published in Jonathan: A Queer Fiction Journal, issue 11, in March 2016. It had previously been shortlisted in the 2015 The Reader Berlin Short Story Competition.
