About the Author

I have been involved in the education of children for 35 years. As a junior primary teacher I taught children to read. Learning is much easier and ultimately more successful, if it is fun for the learner. So making the reading and writing learning process a fun experience was a major incentive for me as a teacher. Coupled with this is the philosophy that children are apprentices in life, and that part of their learning process is understanding it is OK to make mistakes--this is how we learn. Giving children permission to make mistakes, takes the fear out of new experiences, and paves the road to success. Very few people learn a new skill from one practice, for most of us we need to rehearse and practice multiple times before we master new skills. This is an important message I attempt to impart through my stories, not only to children, but also to parents. I have two amazing daughters who believe they can achieve whatever they put the minds to, that the journey to achieve these goals is different for each and every one of us. Chloe has chosen to become a doctor of medicine and Brittany has chosen to become a lawyer. I am so proud of these beautiful young ladies and the personal drive and sacrifices they have made to achieve their goals. Being a parent is the most rewarding experience anyone could have, and also the most important. This is a job no-one gets any training for and yet anyone can apply. I hope through reading these book that parents also gain an insight into the learning process and celebrate the unique qualities of their child. We are not all meant to be the same--each and everyone of us brings our own special qualities to this world. No two children will follow the same path to achieve their goals in life---what is important is that they learn to value themselves, celebrate who they are and work out what makes them feel good about themselves--because this develops confidence in themselves and in what they can do. My all time passion is helping children in need of some positive support in their lives. Children, who through no fault of their own, have little self confidence, who undervalue their own importance, who live in fear and have no trust in the adults around them. It is my hope to help these children with the revenue raised by selling my books; to help these youngsters develop self confidence and the ability to take safe risks--to make mistakes and learn from them, to embrace their place in this world and not feel the need to compare themselves to others--------------strong, resilient people ready to take life on and win. So I guess my stories have a message-------hopefully a message that helps all people, young and old.
