Author Biography: Cal Jillson is professor of political science at Southern Methodist University, where he served as Director of the John G. Tower Center for Political Studies from 1995 to 2001. His previous books include Congressional Dynamics: Structure, Coordination and Choice in the First American Congress, 1774-1789 and Constitution-Making: Conflict and Consensus in the Federal Convention of 1787.
