About the Author

I began writing as a child creating cartoon stories about my pet dogs, "The Adventures of Kieko and Chico," along with my younger brother, Curtis. Since then he went on to become an artist/ writer and I continued my fascination with writing songs, short stories, and poems. However, poetry became my passion, which had developed innocently through poems and letters I had written to my wife during our courtship. Much of my poetry is influenced by my love of nature and the insights that occur to me during my long distance runs. I became employed as a Special Education Junior High school teacher. And I taught in Florida for ten years. Occasionally, I had opportunities to share my poetry with my students. The story of Ksana-Kai is inspired by my daughter Shannan's courageous battle with a brain tumor. It is her spirit of determination and her bright "positivity" (as she calls it) that illuminated the gloomy outlooks of family and friends as we waded through this frightful ordeal.
