Overview

The prevention of colorectal cancer is a subject of increasing medical importance, and there have been a number of promising recent developments. It explores the mechanisms of colon adenoma — carcinoma development in depth and the effects of anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, celecoxib, and sulindac, on this pathway. It also discusses the potential role of other nutritional agents ("nutraceuticals") in chemoprevention of colorectal neoplasia.
Purpose: The authors wish to provide a multidisciplinary perspective on CRC chemoprevention. It is heavily focused in the basic sciences, with limited discussion of clinical translational impacts. As such, the book will appeal more to basic science researchers in this area.

However, the book is very repetitive, as can happen with multiauthored efforts, and it lacks an index.
Assessment: This book on CRC chemoprevention is comprehensive but will have a fairly limited audience due to its narrow focus and redundancies.
