Promise of the Father
Many have come to know Jesus as the Lamb of God who provides redemption from our sins, justification in the court of heaven, and reconciliation to our loving Father, but not so many have come to know Him in His other role as the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. While we would never seek to diminish Jesus' role and what he accomplished for believers by dying as the Supreme Sacrifice and rising again, we can make a case that believers being baptized in the Holy Spirit has a tremendously important role in world evangelization, something very high on the Father's priority list. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is God's gift to His disciples to equip them to be effective witnesses. This amazing gift and tool will better enable us to fulfill our assignment to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Promise of the Father is divided into four sections. Section One gives an overview of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Section Two is a verse by verse exposition of 1 Corinthians 14. Section Three answers many of the questions a seeker may ask and teaches how to receive this remarkable gift. The final section contains many useful and interesting insights from the Bible relating to the Baptism in the Spirit.

About the Author

Pete grew up in Demopolis, Alabama and Greensboro, NC. He attended Grimsley High School in Greensboro and graduated from Duke University in 1974. Since then he has been involved at some level in pastoring and church leadership. He married his high school sweetheart, Martha Bilisoly, with whom he has shared forty years of marriage. They have four children and seven grandkids. He is currently the pastor of Life Community Network, a network of Christian neighborhood-based communities, which are "neighbors helping neighbors to experience God's love."

Pete's journey as a follower of Christ began in 1971 while at Duke University. He was born again in the spring of that year, and in the fall experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit. After over 42 years of living the Spirit-filled life, Pete decided to share what he knows and believes in his new book, Promise of the Father. His hope is that this book will help you understand and receive all that God has for you.
