About the Author

Arlene Weisz joined the faculty of the School of Social Work at Wayne State University in 1995, after a social work career that included practice with adolescents. She researches adult and adolescent partner violence and sexual assault prevention and has co-coordinated and evaluated dating violence and sexual assault prevention programs for middle-school youth and university students.

Beverly Black is a professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. For several years she co-coordinated and evaluated dating violence and sexual assault prevention programs for adolescents and university students in Detroit, Michigan. She conducts research and publishes on issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and prevention programming.
