About the Author

Mary Hertz Scarbrough has written more than two dozen fiction and nonfiction books for young readers. Her first book for Capstone Press, Heroes of the American Revolution, was a Junior Library Guild Selection. She practiced law for 10 years and has taught writing and constitutional law. She loves to unearth little-known facts and particularly enjoys researching and writing about history and other social studies topics. She lives in Brookings, South Dakota.
