The analysis is set in the context of research in international political economy: Part I focuses on Russia and comprises chapters on foreign policy, relations with international financial institutions, technical agencies, and approaches to peace and security issues. Part II deals with China's foreign policy and economic modernization, and examines policies in the same set of institutions.
