Overview

Poggy Potty - a story book to help with toilet training.

Poggy Potty, dull and blue, hopes a child will one day sit on its seat. When flashier potties start filling up the bathroom, a little child plays with them all and chaos ensues. In the end, one potty wins out - and wins big!

Poggy Potty is gender neutral and ideal for for both boys and girls.

PLEASE NOTE: This edition does not contain illustrations, so if your little one craves visuals, you may be called on to act out the action or do goofy things with your face.

WHY POGGY?

A potty can be intimidating for toddlers. Designed to make potty time fun, Poggy Potty seeds the idea that training toilets are more than toys - they're useful, too.

Potty training is without a doubt a messy subject - but it's one you have to explore when you're helping your child learn all about the business. Poggy Potty aims to tackle the topic with humor, but also with sensitivity and tact, and ends on a frank and educational note.

Poggy Potty is ideal for kids either 1) just starting to venture into toilet training, or 2) still using potties.

Length: 500 Words (picture book length)

POETRY MAKES IT STICK

It's no accident that Poggy Potty is written in easy, rhyming poetic verse. Poems, with their soothing sounds and musical rhythm, are especially engaging to preschoolers and young children. Poetry is also educational. Every book read to a child can teach vocabulary and reading skills. When the words make cool sounds - using techniques like rhyme and alliteration, for example - they stick. One of the biggest unsung advantages of poetry is to the parent or caregiver who's called on to read aloud. Reading rhyming verse is just easier - especially when you're dealing with repeated requests!

About the Author

Karen Kolodenko has been writing poetry for almost four decades. When the "song" her own child started asking to hear at bedtime turned out to be a spoken nursery rhyme, she realized that simple, unadorned rhymes can be as melodic to young ears as music. She set about creating verse kids would ask for again and again.
