About the Author

Carl McKever began writing poetry in March 2007. Over the course of years, he founded the Surf and Verse Poetry Club and held all meetings in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At the same time, he was sponsored and nominated to be the Webmaster for the Florida State Poets Association (2008-2012). So, he decided to sponsor his poetry club as a chapter member through this entity. Later, he moved to Dubuque, Iowa, and was nominated by the Iowa Poetry Association to be the Area Representative for the local county (2011-2012). In 2011, he began self-publishing his poems through book volumes; making him an Indie author. Enjoying the Iowa winters, he was nominated to be a judge for the Carnegie Stout Public Library Teen Poetry Contest. The week after winners were elected, he graduated from studies with the Therapeutic Writing Institute (TWI). Through perseverance and active work in the community, he built and established an online poetry handbook to help new, emerging poets (www.poetryhandbook.com). He still felt obligated, so he returned to his native land, Fort Lauderdale, and began doing open mikes at the Fort Lauderdale Comedy Club. Sadly to say, the comedy club closed down one month after he began performing. However, Carl was determined. Now, you can find many of his performances on online audio engines. Today, Carl has self-published seven books of poetry, two great short stories, and literary blogs through Publishers’ Weekly and Toast Pop.
