About the Author

Britta Elmberg grew up in the Ottawa Valley area. She obtained her first degree at Carleton University (English/Music History). She met her husband in 1985, and later studied Music at the University of Toronto, finishing in 1988 with a B.Mus and a B.Ed.

Britta taught for a time for The Toronto District School Board and then in 1994, began her own family. She left teaching in 1996 to look after her children, and ended up having four kids.

Now, Britta is a single mom with teenage children. At this point, she has just three children as a child was lost in 2006 to brain cancer. Britta's other children are all in school with the eldest studying film and television at Humber College, and the younger two children in High School

She taught at The Professor's Lake Kumon Center in Brampton for nearly five years, serving early readers and reading recovery students. Currently she is employed at The Educatus Learning Center in Brampton where she teaches reading and science.

When not working, looking after her family, or writing poetry, Britta loves to paint with oil on canvas. She has marketed her work through various venues and further projects are underway.

Poems for Now is a small collection of poems written as a response to personal experience. Every attempt at originality has been made, and any duplication of material is unintended.
